TonyusSe: I can appreciate your thoughts on how a dog’s owner should be able to keep a dog happy without having to throw pills at it. However, I have a problem dog. I’ve tried everything (training, etc.) to help with my dog’s obsessive barking and agression toward strangers but nothing has worked. This dog is high strung -no two ways about it. I’ve been a wonderful owner since day 1 so her behavior is not due to neglect or abuse, that’s for sure. She barks all the time and it drives the neighbors crazy. She feels every noise and every stranger is a possible enemy (even though she’s such a loving sweetheart to me, kind and playful). And the last straw is that she did bite someone the other day for the first time. So I do feel I need to try something other than what I have tried previously to help calm her. That’s why I have looked into this product. I added this information just so people answering this question know that I’m not a lazy dog owner who doesn’t care about her dog
Youneverstopme: You answered me question while I was adding the extra details above so you did not see it. infomation. Obviously I realize that some people become incensed/irate at the mere mention of a calming product for dogs. However, the product I listed is not a drug, as you mentioned. The ingredients are natural, and are something I would take myself. That aside, I’m not lazy and I’m not a moron. People looking into something that will possibly help a dog (and I said possibly – I didn’t say I was running right out to buy the stuff) are not neccessarily nuts or bastards. They may just be attempting to look for a possible solution to behavior which has not been previously managable, even with lots of care and attention.
Dorothy S: my dogs are not left home alone all day, as you implied. From the day I got these dogs I was home with them (I work at home). I’ve also taken them to a dog trainer, to the dog park, socialized them, etc. I think you said that dogs “should naturally be happy” without the use of meds. Again, this is not a medication, not a drug. The ingredients are all-natural. Also, “should be” is different than “is.” Sometimes, as you said, there are certain dogs that seem to be born with personality traits that can be difficult to change, no matter how much you work at it. You, like other responders, imply that I am a lazy or ignorant dog owner. Not the case. By the way, I have two dogs. Only one has this problem I described. Not the other one. So obviously that in itself should say something. In short, I’m appreciate you concern but I’m not sure what you’re “horrified” about. I’d save “horrified” for something more fitting than a simple inquiry about an herbal dog supplement

I think it’s up to me to keep my dog calm and happy.
On the other hand, I’m sure that many owners will be willing to try another magical cure.
Late Entry : in that case I’d recommend consulting a holistic vet and perhaps a therapist/trainer. My “answer” wasn’t personal :)
Whenever considering anything sold on the Web or TV, always use caution. That’s all.
Best of luck!!

The thought of this horrifies me.Dogs should be happy and calm, without the aid of drugs. If puppies are not socialised or trained, they will have the symptoms that this calming formula claims to overcome.

Dogs become neurotic and anxious because so called dog lovers leave then alone all day and expect them to be well behaved. It is shameful that a leading veterinarian and a neurologist have deemed it necessary to create a drug to ease their misery.

I believe that there are dogs who like people are born with mental disorders. Nevertheless, I believe that 90% of our dogs problems are inflicted by stupid owners who are incapable of caring for their dogs.

The thing about supplements or medications is that they need to be used in conjunction with training to be most effective. You might want to find a trainer that can help you with your dog using positive training techniques. Clicker training can work very well with aggressive dogs. If your dog is afraid of people you should check out this site to learn about how to work with it. Some books to consider

Hi, I just heard a radio ad for Poyz and was looking for their website to get more info. I couldn’t find it, would you mind emailing the website?

I’ve used Bach’s Rescue Remedy for my dogs in the past, you can find it at Wild Oats Market or some health food stores. It’s all natural and humans can use it too. My trainer recommended it to me. It helps one of my dogs during thunderstorms and other stressful times, but for trips to the vet, it doesn’t help. It’s almost like the more stressful the situation, the less it is effective. I’d rather use Rescue Remedy than Benadryl which was recommended by my vet.

Ignore those other people criticizing you….they are idiots. Some dogs have issues that are just part of their nature. No matter what training, those bad traits still come out.

Thanks in advance for the info, good luck to you.
