Question by Tommy-Lee: Where to put a tropical fish tank?
I have just bought a tropical fish tank for my office. I really want to put the tank in the main part of my office (estate agency) however I do see some small problems could you please tell me if it will affect the fish.

Firstly the tank is not in direct sunlight but it does benefit from natural light. Is this okay?

Secondly it is situated slighty more than 8 ft from the front door, the door never really stays fully open but it is open now and then as customers come and go (Not constenly). My concern is that it will alter the tank Temperature or will mean the tank is in a draft.

Secondly I did read somewhere that they dont like alot of traffic e.g people walking past the tank etc. As it is an office people will be walking around and rarely sitting next to the tank.

I ideally would like to put it here for people to see but I also want to make sure it wont affect the fish. Could you please tell if this will be an okay location for my tank or wether I would need to use some kind of stress relief solution in the water to calm them down etc.

Hi, i also got a tropical fish tank, and have 5 juvenile piranhas in a 65, but anyway, it is ok (perfect) that you put it in indirect sunlight and still gets natural lighting. Most fish do not need, or want direct sunlight. it is ok that you put it 8 ft from the door, because tropical tanks have a heater and it would be only a gradual incline, or decline, so the heater would kick in. it is ok that you put it in a somewhat trafficked area, because your fish will get used to people walking by, and not hide.
May i suggest getting red belly piranhas they are a little shy, and have an undeserved reputation for being blood-thirsty killers. they may not sound like a pet you would want to keep, but they make great pets.
