Hi,
well I am for sure convinced that our diet plays a major, if not the only role, in mental disorders.
We produce our body chemistry from what we eat…garbage in, garbage out…
Since our body are immensely complex and everybody is different, it is not always easy to see the link… (some can eat garbage all their life and die of something “normal”, others are more like a canary in the mine)…
About 100 years ago some “Schizophrenia” cases were often correctly diagnosed as Pellagra (there is more than one Schizophrenia). Today most doctors have to look up what pellagra is, not to mention how to treat it …about 100-150 years ago psychiatrists had a success=healing rate of about 50 % by nutrition and nurture alone, today they are down to about 15 % (relying only on drugs).
This topic is really interesting, I love it and have my own, personal experiences with Alternative (Mental) Health…
Since our brains are the most complex organs on earth. the brain chemistry -methylization – can go awry pretty easily, especially if key nutrients like zinc (deficient in most people, even compared to the pretty low RDA) are missing…
with Diesel instead of gas your car won’t go far, either…but nonetheless most people are more concerned about their cars than their brains…
Some examples about missing or poisoning foods…?
It is shown that niacin, also known as vitamin B3, cures most cases of Schizophrenia. This is not very known, but Dr Abram Hoffer and others have done lots of research on that. There is much more to the story, just making it short here
(see http://www.mind-healing.org/advancedorthomolecularresearch.html )
Also removing gluten from my diet made a difference like day and night for me. Gluten has a devastating effect on my moods and outlook in life, not to speak about my eye-hand coordination…
Lactose intolerance was not that devastating for me, and I was able to release my reaction to it with Emotional Freedom Technique.
I avoid “diet” products with Aspartame under any circumstances, since they make me dizzy and depressed.
It is shown again and again that Omega-3 not only has good effects on our hearts, but also on our minds (actually Hippocrates already said that)…Omega-3 in high doses relieves depression and in higher doses even heals or at least improves Alzheimer s Disease.
Vitamin B,C,D and E play a major role in our (mental) health…For more information, you should check out Dr Saul’s website doctoryourself.com.
what do you think?
To your best

Best Anxiety Relief Guide By the Amazing Essential Oil – Aromatherapy + Plus Bonus
“Are You Curious About The Healing Power Of Aromatherapy But Not Convinced It Really Works?”
You may not believe it, but aromatherapy can be extremely
useful in helping heal complicated emotional and medical
problems. It can help promote a positive emotional state of
being and has been proven to help deal with problems ranging
from grief and anger issues to asthma, migraines and even
chicken pox.
Aromatherapy is an effective healer due to the essential
oils that are used in the treatment. The essential oils mesh
naturally, which causes their molecules to create a synergy
that is easily inhaled. This process allows the treatment to
be absorbed into the body quickly, making aromatherapy work
faster that most modern medicinal treatments.
The molecules released through aromatherapy will stimulate
and affect portions of your brain. The triggers that it
provides to the brain can produce emotions, can mask other
types of emotions and can calm the body to allow additional
treatments to work.
Most people don’t realize it, but doubt, fear and anxiety
can all work against their body’s natural attempt to heal
itself. These harmful emotions can block pharmaceutical
cures as well. Aromatherapy acts to calm the body and allow
medicine to heal.

Question by Mason W: Pervasive thoughts about the end of the world?
For as long as I can remember I have suffered from panic attacks. They were extreme when I was a child but went away with only a few less intense attacks for all my teens years until now (I’m now 19) they are returning pretty bad.
I’m seeing a psychologist about it and I’m in the process of being diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder but I only see the psych once a fortnight and I need relief now, I don’t want to wait around for it.
When I was young I used to worry too much about death. I used to be terrified of getting a brain tumor or of there being a comet hitting the earth.
Most of the time now I panic about my health, a fear of dying and the end of the world. My fear of the end of the world is so pervasive it is preventing me from getting a job. Every anomaly in the weather is a sign of an impending natural disaster. Every chest pain is a sign of heart disease. I can’t stop thinking about nuclear war, solar wind, pandemic diseases. Every loud sound makes me jump and sometimes I have to drink to sleep at night. Most of my fears are about the end of the world.
I don’t look for a job because I don’t want to spend the rest of my life working if I’m going to die soon.
I know my fear is unnecessary but when I start freaking out my judgment becomes distorted.
What can I do for relief?
Douglas B:
I do a lot of walking. I had a blood test only 2 weeks ago and I am extremely healthy. Your whole waste products theory cannot be true.
hannah:
You are not helping. You are making me feel worse. If I could fucking calm down I would and as for the bible, well reading about the end of the world is only going to make me worry about it more.

Answer by Douglas B
Mason, this may sound crazy but I think the thing that is causing you the most problems and them to escalate is a lack of exercise. I bet you don’t get much now do you? Running is a good exercise along with swimming are the best, long walks the next bet with proper exercise after that. The other thing is to cut out the sugar, pop and candy, drink lots of water, and eat lots of fresh fruits. The reason for the exercise is that your body is like a big pump to get rid of the waste products that the body uses up. When we don’t get enough exercise the pump doesn’t work well and things start to back up. When they back up and something is supposed to work it can’t because there is no place to put that waste product. Now you end up with things that can’t get the needed nutrients because there is no place to put them. Your body is aching more to do stuff and this blockage starts to affect things in your brain, how can it work right? It is full of waste products too. It can now go into irrational thinking. I know if I had you to work with I would have you in good shape in a month and rid of all the crap in your life and you would be ready to join the rest of the world

Question by wednesday: My roommate is trying to make me fat!?
My friend/roommate is trying to make me fat! Help!?
We are both good friends. She and I while both of normal size have a little more flab in the typical problem areas for women, but I decided to start working out everyday and results were very visible, I am now much more toned. So then we move in together, and my roommate notices this. She gets jealous because she refuses to do anything that requires her moving her body at all. I don’t know why she refuses to exercise, she just wont do it, she wont even run. Or even dance when we go out. Or even swim with the all us girls when we go swimming. She just hangs out on the shore or sits in the shallow end.
She wont let me do my jump rope outside because it’s too noisy for her even though her room is on the other side of the flat, the walls are thick and it’s already near a noisy highway so it doesnt make much much of a difference between the flicking of a rope and beeping horns, does it? She laughs and makes fun of me loudly whenever I try to do yoga, and the better I get ( I can now touch my toes and do this yoga trick where I go from leaning on my elbow into a backbend-AWESOME) the worse the mocking gets. And she disrupts me during meditation. I have explained to her that yoga is the one thing that helps me with my depression that I recently recovered from (I wont take pills) but she still makes sure I cant do it when shes there)
Whenever I come back from a jog, she tries to tempt me with food, none of which works because I no longer have that need to attack junk food with my bare teeth anymore.
But even generally, when she cooks ( shes working towards being a head chef) she makes it less healthy than it should be, even for her organic cooking standards. She paid heaps for a 100% organic diet 2 years ago (which she went off due to the cost) whereas I just eat natural foods and work out everyday and it’s working so much better on me.
I noticed her issue long before we moved in too. We were having a dancing competition with one of those Wii games at my friends house and I did ten dances in a row (she sat there refusing to dance at all) and when I was done she went straight to the pantry, and put a box of Twinkies on the table in front of me. I can tell its intentional because of the look of anxiety that builds up on her face and the instant sweep of relief that occurred the moment I grabbed one. (Thank god I dont eat them anymore!)
I have confronted her about this.
I say something to her everytime she does it, but she keeps doing it! It’s not stopping me from keeping healthy but it’s really making me unhappy that she is willing to make me unhappy. I never want to go back to where I was again. I told her that I was in a bad place, mentally and physically, but it seems like she doesnt care. We were never THAT close, we are good friends and we are suited as roomies because we are both responsible and trustworthy but this is the one thing thats getting to me!
I think what has her concerned is that if I finally tone up to get that bikini body (which Im close to getting) she’ll be the ‘fattest’ one in the group because the other two girls are naturally lanky.
This is very juvenile of her. Help me!!!
shes my friend and the place is nice and she payed more for the bond than i did so im still paying her back. shes really good about everything but this. she payed for about 65% of the stuff cos i was in bad place financially when we were moving so i dont want to screw her over

Slow-moving disaster rolls down Mississippi River
In this photo made May 3, 2011, a farm is seen surrounded by floodwater near New Madrid, Mo. When the Army Corps of Engineers intentionally broke a clay levee holding back the rising Mississippi River, muddy water came pouring over Missouri farmland and raised fears that the fertile soil would be rendered unusable for months if not years.

Question by anon(:: How can I tell the difference between anxiety and actually being sick?
My anxiety makes me feel sick. Like it makes me nauseous, sometimes I sweat, and am very fearful. Since I feel this way, I don’t go out just in case I’m actually sick.
How can I tell if I am actually sick or that it is just anxiety?
No, I don’t want your stupid advertisements that don’t even have anything to do with the question.
