Bloomfield encourages readers to try breathing exercises, visualization, mediation, music therapy, and anger therapy, and includes an extensive list of Internet resources, mental health associations, and self-help groups. –Erica Jorgensen

Question by johno: Do you have information on remedies for high levels of anxiety in a teenager?
I would like to get information on what is available to treat irrational anxiety and panic attacks in a teenage son. I do not want anything that is addictive or is needed for the long term. I want to find something, preferably natural, that can be used, short to medium term, to lower levels of anxiety sufficent to allow confidence to grow through experiencing the things that are currently avoided. Hopefully, once the confidence is there the need for the supplement will disappear.

Question by Man in the Moon: Best remedy for anxiety induced nausea?
I have a major FE exam tomorrow and sometimes I get nausea from test anxiety. What would be the best remedy for this? I was thinking maybe ginger root or peppermint oil.

Eat some toast in the morning. It is mild on the stomach and will give the stomach acid something to digest other that your stomach lining. Also, the anxiety itself is making your stomach nervous which upsets it. Also try ginger ale – but not too much because of the bubbles. Good Luck with the test!!

    Stress Reduction

    • Single channel, pocket-sized biofeedback thermometer.

Skin Temperature feedback instruments generally employ precision linear thermistors for temperature detection. A thermistor is a tiny semi-conductor embedded in a small epoxy bead; it serves s a temperature sensor when the epoxy bead is in contact with the surface of the skin. A thermistor also acts as a physiological transducer in that it converts skin temperature information into an electrical resistance coefficient whose level is proportional to the monitored skin temperature. The diameter of a thermistor is very small (usually 1/8 inch or less) and it accurately detects the temperature only of the small area of the skin surface in direct contact with it. Because skin temperature can vary as much as 1 – 2 degrees F over a one inch diameter of the skin surface, the small area monitored by the thermistor can limit information consistency and reliability
