Question by Susie G: Does anyone have any good natural remedies for anxiety attacks?
I have taken prescriptions for anxiety before, and hated the side effects of going off of them. I currently have dizzy spells, lightheadedness, the typical symptoms. Is it possible I could be depressed? Any advice would be great. Thanks

I tried kava kava before, and it worked for me. Some have reservations about it, though.

I have a major FE exam tomorrow and sometimes I get nausea from test anxiety. What would be the best remedy for this? I was thinking maybe ginger root or peppermint oil.

Answer by Lane
Eat some toast in the morning. It is mild on the stomach and will give the stomach acid something to digest other that your stomach lining. Also, the anxiety itself is making your stomach nervous which upsets it. Also try ginger ale – but not too much because of the bubbles. Good Luck with the test!!

Bach Flower Remedies – A Further Understanding
Bach Flower Remedies are known all over the world as a safe and gentle system of healing. They are prescribed according to the emotional outlook, the mood, the temperament and personality of the individual. Filmed at Mount Vernon, the beautiful little cottage in Oxfordshire where Dr. Edward Bach sent the last years of his life, this video is an informal, general guide to using the remedies. The trustees and Curators of Mount Vernon, John Ramsell and Judy Howard, discuss many aspects of the remedies and give some simple guidelines to prescribing oneself and others. Bach Flower Remedies – A Further Understanding is an invaluable companion to the various books that are available on the subject and to the video, The Light That Never Goes Out, which tells the inspiring story of Dr. Bach’s life and work.

Question by tracirk: Does anyone know of herbal remedy for throwing up everytime I eat?
I am a 37 year old female who has had a complete hysterectomy. I do not take hormones or any other medications. I do have a bit of stress, my husband has a traumatic brain injury and I have 2 children ages 5 and 7. My husband is worse than the children, he demands more of my attention and gets sullen if I don’t give it to him, he throws fits and objects when he feels things aren’t going his way. He has never physically abused any of us but is very stressful for me to live with at times. Recently I have started throwing up everytime I eat something. Yesterday my right shoulder was hurting so bad I could not pick up anything and when I went to pull up my bathing suit bottom it felt like my shoulder was being ripped. Then today it hurt when I woke up and became progressively worse. Then I ate lunch and within 2 bites was running to the door to throw up and the weird thing was, after I threw up, my shoulder guit hurting. At dinner I threw up again after a few bites. When usually it has been 1 or 2 times a week, it is now becoming every meal. I know it is stress….though the shoulder is a new sympton….but since I have to be with my husband, I have no insurance and cannot afford a Dr. Or the medicine he would prescribe. My Stm John’s wort is now blooming so I am making tea from fresh blooms 1/4 herb to one cup water 2x’s/ day. I was wondering if you recommended any other herbs with it. I have quite a few I grow myself.
Forgot to mention the herbs I have: Spearmint, peppermint, chocolate mint, pineapple mint, lemon balm, sage, white sage, passion flowers. basil, thyme, rosemary, chamomille, purple cone flowers – echinacea, catnip, st. John’s wort and I live in the woods of Alabama so have many variety of trees and wild herbs. Thank you for any help. Traci
Thank you Cedar, I forgot all about ginger! My main issue is that I feel absolutely fine, other than my shoulder….which I did not know was a sympton of reflux…until the first few bites, so I will try drinking some ginger tea a bit before I eat to see if that helps, I have a few nice roots that I got at the farmers market. I will also get some of my mints and perhaps lavendar and make a nice foot bath. No free clinic, I am 1/2 mile from the county that does have one and you have to live in that county but I know you can buy prilosec over the counter so that would save the Dr. expense, I think I can get it at Sam’s club in bulk. Thank you once again!

Answer by Cedar
Hey – could you get to a free clinic or something? I know stress can do this kind of thing, but it could be more serious as well, so you’d want to get checked out just to make sure.
Maybe the shoulder pain is reflux? I don’t know… if it IS reflux, that could be good news, because the medications for that are pretty effective. You’d need insurance for them, though – meds like Prilosec, they’re expensive
I’ve got gastroparesis, which gives me chronic nausea. I don’t know if I can help you for sudden vomiting, but the few tricks I have learned….
- foot baths – they’re just a general pain management tool and about the only thing that helps when nausea gets really bad
- Flat cola
- You could try switching to Boost instead of food… although it’s pricey. It’s basically a liquid diet, and it’s a lot gentler on the stomach than actual food.
Other things that might work for stress-related upset are ginger (tea, candied, biscuits, whatever
, peppermint tea, and sucking on hard candy. I really hope you feel better! I’m sorry you’re throwing up and stressed out.

Looking for good natural suplements to beat the anxiety/stress and genral panic and feeling of uneasyness from quitting cannabis. I am taking a multi vitamin and green tea’s.. how good is st john wort in comparison to anti depressants? Is there anything else i can try for the better on my body? plz reply with serious answers only

Answer by taik
St. John’s wart has been shown to be effective in improving mood. However, it probably isn’t as effective as prescribed antidepressants. It is helpful for more mild symptoms. A B-complex vitamin can be added too along with your multivitamin. That helps to improve energy and mood. I don’t know if you are on any meds, but St. John’s can interfere with some of them…such as birth control pills.
